My life in Science whilst raising a child with type 1 diabetes

Biomedical Science, Type 1 Diabetes, Coeliac Disease and other findings

About this blog

Hi folks, I was born and raised in Ayrshire, on the west coast of Scotland. I’m Married with two children, Katie aged 15 and John aged 11.At age 31, I started on a part-time degree for Biomedical Science, starting with my HND at a local college (James Watt College, now known as Ayrshire College). I had the most wonderful support, and fantastic teaching staff at the college, which encouraged me to keep going and head for the degree at the University of the West of Scotland, in Paisley.

I dream that one day I would love to be involved in researching Type 1 Diabetes, and I hope to blog many experiences along the way including: my incessant need to keep my grades up to avoid a resit at all costs; my battle to keep my son in control of the “beast” and my long, fantastic obsession with music and cooking gluten free food.
